All I really needed to know I learned in kindergarten

Every man's memory is his private literature. - Aldous Huxley

I'll never forget what I learned, friends matter but family cares.

A kid taught me the phrase "Easy Peasy Chicken-menesey" on the playgound. In class the teacher asked me to do something and I said it. I got such a scolding!

when i was in kindergarten my mom and i were in walmart one day and i ran up to who i thought was my grandmother and started telling her all about my day. i rambled on and on. finally i yelled "love you grandma!" and ran off to look at the toys across the aisle. after we left the store my mom told me that wasnt my grandmother, it was my kindergarten teacher. (!!!) they looked so similar. i was mortified when i had to go to school the next day. i couldnt look my teacher in the face for a week.

In 7th grade, I saw my kindergarten teacher at a Baskin Robbins and didn't recognize her, although she recognized me.

I learned that even though the school faculty seems nice, all they want to do is make money.

See, I was the only kid in my class at that Jewish private day school who could read. My parents asked the faculty if they could do more for me so I could get the education I needed, but the faculty said that they were doing "all we can" for me, which wasn't very much. So I got transferred to a school for gifted children.

i only remember one thing from kindergarten.
we were each given a special piece of paper and were told to draw whatever we liked on it. i only knew how to draw flowers and a sun, so that's what i drew. then we gave our papers to the teacher and a few weeks later we each got a plate with our drawing on it. if only i knew where i could do this again so i could make another one today. but i still have this plate and it reminds me of this one memory from kindergarten.

I think I learned the difference between gray (or grey) and brown. I guess before I thought mud was gray and skies were brown.

I learned that not everyone is your friend.
I learned that you will be rewarded for being good.
I learned that those who do wrong will eventually get their comeuppance.
I learned that there are some people out there who genuinely want to help.
I learned that nothing lasts forever.
I learned that lying hurts everyone.

We had these coloured blocks in the classroom that us kids would always play with. My particular favourites were these tan-coloured skewed diamonds. Being the clever one, I used to put two alongside each other and with my pudgy child fist, smash the tip of the diamond precipice. As expected, this resulted in the other diamond being catapulted across the room. This girl once called me a "show-off" for doing that. I bet she was just jealous because I thought of it first.
